Short model names such as opus and sonnet now work beyond Anthropic's own API. Fable is now recognised as a short model name too. A new Claude Test panel in the terminal shows each test's pass, fail or blocked mark, with a progress bar and time left. It builds on the groundwork for that panel in v2.1.309. On Vertex and Bedrock, default models can now come from a published model document. Setting CLAUDE_CODE_RETRY_WATCHDOG_SCOPE=capacity limits the automatic retry waiting to capacity errors only.

Several features are in this build but not switched on yet. A /claude-api check that scans your project for retiring Claude model names is built and stays off. Sending a project's documents to Claude as plain text is also off unless switched on remotely. The tool that writes project documents gains a safety check that is off by default. When switched on, it refuses to replace a document whose text differs from what Claude last saw. Groundwork for picking up background agents left behind after a resume is present but hidden.

Starting a cloud session now recovers when this computer is not yet a trusted device. Claude Code re-enrolls the computer and retries, or tells you to run /login. Saving incoming attachments no longer overwrites files that have the same name. Inline images inside tmux now stay in place when the pane moves, resizes or regains focus. A NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS file with one blocked certificate no longer causes the whole file to be ignored. The bundled claude-code.d.ts type definitions file is removed.

Written by our agent from the shipped bundle, not by Anthropic.

Five to try today

Picked from 6 you can use now
  1. Short model names work beyond Anthropic's own API, and fable is recognised

Short model names such as opus and sonnet are no longer limited to Anthropic's own API, and fable is now recognised as one

    Sessions & agents
  2. MCP server settings gain connectorId and keep the configured command

MCP server settings accept a new connectorId field, stdio servers keep their original configuredCommand, and mcp_call refuses some servers' tools

    Extensions
  3. Governed git tools: gh guard and a standalone proxy mode

In proxied sessions, the built-in gh now refuses to run outside the session's proxy, and a new standalone-proxy mode sets up git and gh

    Tools & output
  4. Windows strict sandbox: clear refusal messages and a switch that remembers it was on

On Windows, strict sandbox mode now explains why a command was refused, and the CLAUDE_CODE_NANKEEN_KESTREL switch remembers it was on

    Interface
  5. New CLAUDE_CODE_RETRY_WATCHDOG_SCOPE limits the retry watchdog to capacity waits

Set CLAUDE_CODE_RETRY_WATCHDOG_SCOPE=capacity to keep the retry watchdog waiting through capacity errors without its other retry changes

Governed git tools: gh guard and a standalone proxy mode#

In proxied sessions, the built-in gh now refuses to run outside the session's proxy, and a new standalone-proxy mode sets up git and gh

Unclear Nothing shown passes "standalone-proxy" to the stand-in, so whether this path is reachable in normal use is unclear.

Anthropic’s official release notes

Published verbatim by Anthropic for v2.1.310. Text is unmodified from the upstream changelog. Everything else on this page came out of the bundle instead, which is why the two lists don't match.

Of these 26 bullets, 1 name something an entry on this page also names, 6 name something no entry here does, and 19 name nothing specific enough to line up either way. The pairings are made on names both sides wrote down, a flag or a setting or a slash command, so read one as probably the same thing rather than as a fact, and read the middle number as candidates rather than as a miss count.

  • Added the Monitor tool and plugin monitors on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry, and when telemetry or nonessential traffic is disabled; long foreground sleeps are now blocked there too Nothing to match on
  • Fixed requests failing behind some gateways and compatible servers that reject the effort-2025-11-24 beta value or mid-conversation system messages; Claude Code now retries without them No entry names this
  • Fixed background cleanup deleting some recent files, such as pasted images, when cleanupPeriodDays is set to a very large value No entry names this
  • Fixed compaction after a "Prompt is too long" error keeping too much of a conversation with dense text, such as base64 or SVG, so the next request could fail again No entry names this
  • Fixed file read permission prompts not showing where a symbolic link leads Nothing to match on
  • Fixed a question's auto-continue timeout firing the moment the external editor closed after a long edit Nothing to match on
  • Windows: Fixed PreToolUse and PermissionRequest hooks letting a tool call through when Git Bash is missing and the hook's command is only quoted strings, such as a quoted path Nothing to match on
  • Improved auto mode's prompt before the first read outside the working directories: it now says when blocking those reads makes shell commands ask for permission Nothing to match on
  • Improved memory use of non-interactive sessions (-p, Agent SDK) during compaction when the transcript file is very large Nothing to match on
  • Improved a mod's Image to draw inside tmux with allow-passthrough and focus-events on, in kitty, Ghostty, and iTerm2 3.5+ with fullscreen rendering, where it showed only its alt text Probably tmux-image-support-diagnostics-module-no-caller-seen
  • Linux: Improved /sandbox and the sandbox startup warning to name Ubuntu's AppArmor restriction on user namespaces, and how to lift it, when it keeps bubblewrap from starting the sandbox No entry names this
  • Changed the error for an MCP tool call that times out in a non-interactive session while the server's elicitation is unanswered: it now tells Claude that no answer came and not to repeat the call Nothing to match on
  • [VSCode] Fixed pressing Enter on the plan review card's "Send feedback and keep planning" button approving the plan instead of sending your comments back No entry names this
  • [VSCode] Fixed the panel showing "Something went wrong" after "Switch branch & continue" on a cloud session opened from Session history's Web tab No entry names this
  • [Cloud sessions] Added Claude Code cloud sessions and Remote Control permissions to Enterprise custom roles, so Owners can control access to each by role Nothing to match on
  • [Cloud sessions] Added a Choose file button to load a cloud environment's setup script from a file Nothing to match on
  • [Cloud sessions] Fixed failed saves and archives in the cloud environment edit dialog showing no error inside the dialog Nothing to match on
  • [Cloud sessions] Fixed failed routine API token actions showing only a toast; the error now appears in the routine edit dialog Nothing to match on
  • [Cloud sessions] Improved the session start checklist to show a cloud environment's setup script output in a scrolling box Nothing to match on
  • [Cloud sessions] Changed turning on Cloud sessions or Remote Control in admin settings to ask for confirmation and list the custom roles that have that permission Nothing to match on
  • [Cloud sessions] Changed the cloud environment dialog to open network access, setup script and environment variables from rows instead of listing every editor at once Nothing to match on
  • [Claude Tag] Fixed Claude Tag treating ! commands such as !restart and !help as ordinary messages when sent in bold, italic or strikethrough Nothing to match on
  • [Claude Tag] Fixed Claude Tag admin channel and workspace pages being replaced by a load error when a background refresh of the bundle list fails Nothing to match on
  • [Claude Tag] Fixed Claude Tag's spend limits page in admin settings reporting that no channels match a filter while channel names are still loading Nothing to match on
  • [Code Review] Fixed the Code Review admin section hiding its repositories and switches after a failed refresh of the repository list Nothing to match on
  • [Code Review] Improved the Code Review admin section to retry the first load and show one Try again banner when it still fails Nothing to match on
