What

Connectors link Claude to outside services through claude.ai. Claude has tools to search, list and look up connectors, and each tool comes with a description, its prompt, that tells Claude how to use it.

  • Two prompts per tool: the search, list and lookup tools now pick between two prompts based on a yes-or-no check. Before, each had one fixed prompt. The older prompts are kept.
  • Reconnect guidance: the new prompts cover installState needs_reconnect. When a connector shows enabledInChat: false with installState: "needs_reconnect", Claude is told that the user needs to sign in to it again from the connector card or connector settings, and not to tell them to enable it for this chat. The search prompt also mentions needs_reconnect.
  • More tool text: a new tool description for resolving connector details was added, along with the message 'Connector registry is unavailable right now; please try again.'

Why

When a connector's sign-in has expired, Claude can tell you to sign in again instead of giving advice that will not fix it.
