What
Claude Code turns short model names, such as opus, sonnet and haiku, into full model IDs. This conversion used to work only when you connected to Anthropic's own API. That restriction is gone, and the name fable is now recognised alongside the others. When a name is not found in Claude Code's own list, it is now looked up in a model catalog instead of being handled a fixed way.

Short model names may now resolve when you use a third-party provider, and a new model family name, fable, appears.
