What
ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL is the environment variable that sends Claude Code's requests to a different address, such as a proxy or gateway. An internal check that works out whether that address is a custom host now reads ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL itself instead of being handed the address. It also now returns nothing, as though no custom host were set, when a particular mode is active.
Why
In practice, which custom host Claude Code picks up for this check, if any, can now depend on the mode it is running in, not only on what ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL says.
