What

Managed settings are settings an organisation's administrator puts on a machine. allowedProviders limits which API providers the machine may use. When managed settings include allowedProviders, Claude Code may now work out an ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL value itself and apply it. ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL is the address Claude Code sends its requests to.

This happens only when certain conditions hold, including that no other settings source supplies environment variables. If the managed settings set ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL themselves, their value wins. Before, Claude Code applied only the environment variables listed in the managed settings.

Why

In organisations that use managed settings, the address Claude Code sends requests to may now be set without anyone writing it into the settings. That changes where requests go.
