Git clone, init and worktree commands are recognised differently#
Claude Code now reads git commands in their original order when spotting clone, init or worktree, instead of removing options first
You can now set subagentInheritVerifiedTurns to true so subagents start with your earlier verified messages. MCP servers can now provide skills to Claude Code. Each skill's size and fingerprint is checked against the server's list before it loads. With CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_SHARE_BUNDLE set, /share sends your whole session transcript along with your feedback. In remote sessions, CLAUDE_CODE_REMOTE_MCP_CONFIG points the runner to a file of MCP servers sent by the host. Routing WebFetch through a proxy now depends on CLAUDE_CODE_WEBFETCH_USE_CCR_PROXY instead of being worked out from session state.
19 entries are in the build but not switched on yet. Claude Code can fetch context for a claude.ai Project into a session, but only once it is turned on remotely. Apps built on the SDK will be able to word their own permission prompts from a PreToolUse hook. A stricter plan mode check can ask before any action that is not read-only. Project tools can read an uploaded PDF or Word file as the original document. Agents may later start in the background by default.
MCP allow rules no longer approve tools from a different MCP server. On Windows, sandboxed git now gets your git name and email for commits. Environment variables from settings or /env now reach sandboxed Windows commands too. The resume command printed on exit now includes --worktree for worktree sessions. If CLAUDE.md fails to load, Claude Code tries again later in the session. The MCP tasks feature is now off for everyone and can no longer be turned on remotely.
Written by our agent from the shipped bundle, not by Anthropic.
Remote runners get host-delivered MCP servers through CLAUDE_CODE_REMOTE_MCP_CONFIG, and --mcp-config sources are filtered by scope and ownership
Sessions & agents/feedback bundles can now carry a transcript.jsonl file, and /share can send the whole transcript when CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_SHARE_BUNDLE is set
In the agent view, /model opens a picker and model, effort and fast mode can be set for new sessions from that window without being saved
Sessions & agentsFive new CLAUDE_CODE_* environment variables tune startup, changed-file checks, MCP loading and transcripts, and are forwarded to remote sessions
Platform & internalsThe self-hosted runner can wait up to --shutdown-drain-sec seconds for running work on SIGTERM, and supports a tool-server session kind

Claude Code now reads git commands in their original order when spotting clone, init or worktree, instead of removing options first
The time limit for Claude Code's check of which commits are already pushed now picks between two values depending on a setting
Unclear It is not clear which setting chooses the time limit or whether you can change it.
When Claude Code reads a repository's git settings, it now notes whether core.bare is set to true
Unclear What Claude Code does differently once it knows a repository is bare is not stated.
-m as taking a value#When reading git commands, Claude Code no longer counts -m among the options that take a value
Unclear It is not clear which git commands, if any, now get a different permission decision because of this.
Command hooks can now receive their input from a shared source instead of having it built separately for each hook
Unclear What the shared input source is and when it is used are not stated.
New internal helpers can reload plugin hooks, warn the session, and stand down installed hooks modules while Claude Code is running
Unclear It is not clear when these helpers run or whether they are switched on for anyone.
Hook module results marked as withheld now trigger the module's own withheld handler, and a matcher error message has new wording
Unclear What marking a hook result as withheld changes for the user.
Claude Code's queue of waiting messages can now set some aside so they do not count as something you are waiting on
Unclear Nothing shows when a hold is used, so it is unclear when queued messages are actually held back.
A queued message marked to skip slash commands is now sent as plain text even if it starts with /
Unclear It is not stated which queued messages get marked to skip slash commands.
A queued message belonging to another session is now written to that session's transcript instead of the current one
The Windows sandbox now records four more setup steps and has a new error for when its protection is not renewed
The script that starts the sandbox's HTTP and SOCKS proxies now records the process ID of each one
Claude Code's sandbox path check no longer has separate rules for /private/tmp and /private/var paths, with the same result
The conversation summary that auto mode's checker reads can now be built in a compact form and can note that some turns were left out
The auto-mode check can now carry context inherited from a parent and counts only the remaining part when measuring its size
Claude Code now remembers whether no browser was found or the browser relay failed to connect, and clears that on reconnect
Claude Code dropped tabs_create from a list of browser tab tools, leaving only tabs_close and tabs_select in it
Unclear It is not known what this list controls, so whether opening a tab is now approved or allowed differently is unclear.
Sessions that run without saving to disk now skip several file writes, and invalid worktree names produce a message instead of an error
Sessions that do not write to disk no longer read, write or recover plan files, and saving an ultraplan in one fails with an error
Unclear It is not clear which kinds of session count as not writing to disk.
In headless sessions, saving the conversation can now report that storage refused it, and failed staged files are reported before each turn
Unclear Whether this is switched on and what it changes for a user is not stated.
Headless and remote sessions now signal when they are ending in a way other parts can wait for, and track turns left unfinished
Unclear What this changes in how a session ends for a user is not shown.
The list of models a session may switch to now comes from a configuration whose entries apply only to particular current models
Unclear It is not clear where this configuration comes from or whether you can set it.
A check on whether an effort or model change should apply now also needs the latest top-level request to be threaded
Unclear Which situations meet the new condition is not shown, so when an effort change is now held back is unclear.
A new kind of permission check is marked so that bypass-permissions mode cannot skip it and only the person at the keyboard can answer it
Unclear What causes this check to appear is not stated.
Claude Code now treats a repository trust value of "nothing_to_mark" as no trust information and reports untrusted repositories in usage data
Unclear Whether this changes anything a user sees in a permission prompt is not stated.
Commands now record the plugin that registered them, and stored skills keep their original header plus a note when it cannot be cleaned
Unclear Whether plugins can register commands in this release is not stated.
Commands registered by a plugin now note the plugin that registered them, with some exceptions
The plugin field on a can_use_tool permission request is now passed through to Claude Code's permission handling
Claude Code now recognises a new reason a permission request was refused: it was worded by the host app and was not passed on
A scheduled wakeup's recorded creation time is now never more than 60 seconds before the time it is due to fire
Scheduled jobs now carry their next run time, resume reports count copied tool text, and one message echo only runs after a check
A self-hosted runner now has a path that refuses sessions needing a tool server it cannot host, and its health setup was reorganized
Heartbeats a worker sends over its socket connection no longer wait for the previous heartbeat to finish
A subagent's final report can now be marked as flagged when auto mode's safety review blocked it or could not judge it
Unclear It is not clear whether the subagent hand-back is switched on yet.
The details Claude Code passes when it starts an agent now include a resume value, next to the workflow and teammate details
The critical memory warning now lets the rest of the screen know when it is showing; its wording is unchanged
One internal helper that drew part of Claude Code's screen has been replaced with one that does nothing
Unclear It is not clear which part of the screen, if any, this affects.
Claude Code no longer checks a remote switch for MCP tasks and treats the feature as off for everyone
Unclear Which parts of MCP task support this switch controlled.
IDs starting wf- followed by a number, bridge-, job- and bg- are no longer on Claude Code's list of recognised ID shapes
Unclear What the list of recognised IDs is used for, and so what changes for these IDs, is not known.
Published verbatim by Anthropic for v2.1.299. Text is unmodified from the upstream changelog. Everything else on this page came out of the bundle instead, which is why the two lists don't match.
Of these 190 bullets, 54 name something an entry on this page also names, 39 name something no entry here does, and 97 name nothing specific enough to line up either way. The pairings are made on names both sides wrote down, a flag or a setting or a slash command, so read one as probably the same thing rather than as a fact, and read the middle number as candidates rather than as a miss count.
