Claude Code has a check that decides whether a session switches to a different model. The list of models it chooses from used to be a plain list. It now comes from a configuration in which each entry says which current model it applies to. Only the entries that match the model you are using are considered.
Fewer sessions may switch models, because an entry now applies only when your current model matches it.
