What
A subagent is a helper that Claude starts to work on part of a task by itself and then report back. Messages passed between sessions can now carry extra information about that report coming back:
whether the message is a hand-back of a subagent's report
whether the report is flagged
a note attached to the hand-back
the text of the report
A report is marked as flagged when auto mode's review blocked it or could not decide about it. Auto mode is the setting in which Claude carries out actions without asking you first, with an automatic review standing in for your approval.
Why
Reports coming back from subagents go through a safety review, and a report the review blocked or could not judge is marked so the warning can be seen.
