Unclear It is not stated which menus switch off the automatic pick.
In some of Claude Code's menus you can type the number of an option to pick it. Until now, a single typed number was always chosen automatically after a short pause. A menu can now switch that off. When it does:
- typing a number no longer picks the option on its own; Enter, or the key bound to submit, confirms it
- a number typed right after the menu appears or changes is ignored if it looks like you were still typing ahead
The automatic pick stays the default. Separately, Enter is no longer required when a menu has its own key bindings and the key pressed did not match one of them.
This stops a number typed a moment too early, or typed for something else, from choosing an option you did not mean to pick.
