What

Compaction is when Claude Code shortens a long conversation by replacing earlier parts with a summary. Some tools are deferred, meaning they are loaded only when needed instead of at the start. During compaction, Claude Code can now add a list of the deferred tools that were already loaded before the summary to its notice about those tools.

This only happens when a server-side switch is on. That switch is off unless it is switched on remotely. When it is off, the notice is left as it was.

Why

It affects whether a compacted session keeps track of which on-demand tools it had already loaded, instead of losing that after the summary.
