What
A workflow is a multi-step task Claude Code runs. A rate limit is a cap on how many requests can be made in a period, so work may have to pause. Workflow progress now includes rateLimitWait. While a workflow waits on a rate limit, Claude Code sends progress updates on a timer. Before, the wait was only noted internally and no progress was sent.
Why
Programs built on Claude Code with the SDK, and the screen itself, can now see that a workflow is paused on a rate limit rather than stuck.
