What
A skill is a saved set of instructions and files that Claude can use. When a skill is saved, Claude Code now rejects it if:
- it has too many files
- a file path contains characters that are not allowed
- the name contains "claude" or "anthropic"
- the description is too long
- the description contains angle brackets (< or >)
Why
If you upload a skill that breaks one of these rules, you see a clear reason for the rejection.
