What

Auto mode is a permission mode in which Claude Code acts without asking you first, guided by rules. Each time Claude Code decides whether an action may go ahead, it records the decision in its usage data (telemetry, the reports Claude Code sends about how it runs).

When an auto mode rule was involved, that record now also carries:

  • the name of the rule
  • the list the rule belongs to
Why

Each auto mode decision can now be traced to the rule that produced it, not only to auto mode in general.
