In a remote session, where Claude Code runs on another machine, image, audio and video uploads can now include a note saying whether the session already received that file. To decide, Claude Code looks through the session's folders for a file of the same size with matching content.
This check:
- Only runs in a remote environment.
- Is skipped when
CLAUDE_CODE_REMOTE_ENVIRONMENT_TYPEisself_hosted. - Is controlled by a setting from Anthropic's servers that is on unless switched off remotely.
This changes what a remote session tells the server about files it has received.
