What
Claude Code can use Claude models through cloud providers such as Amazon Bedrock and Google Vertex AI. It now recognises more of their errors as the provider refusing access to a model:
Bedrock: more access-denied responses are matched.
Vertex: a "failed precondition" error about a publisher model now counts as a refusal. Before, only a "not found" error did.
Vertex: "publisher model" is now matched however it is capitalised.
Why
If your account cannot use a model on Bedrock or Vertex, you are more likely to get a clear model-access error instead of a general one.
