What

Claude Code has a new internal switch whose value comes from Anthropic's servers. If the server sends nothing, it is on. It turns off only when three things are all true:

  • the server sets it to off
  • that value came as part of the server's settings data
  • Claude Code is talking to a host other than the default one
Why

This works like an off switch that only affects setups pointed at a non-default host.
