What
Some responses arrive as a stream of events, a format known as SSE (server-sent events). Claude Code guards against overly long lines in these streams. It now skips that scan entirely when the byte limit is no larger than the event limit, and on long lines it jumps straight to the next line break instead of counting one byte at a time.
Why
This makes large streaming responses from MCP servers, the add-ons that give Claude extra tools, cheaper to process.
