Unclear What the total size limit is set to is not known.

What

Claude Code receives some responses as a stream of events. Previously it limited only the length of each event. It now also limits the total size of the response and stops with an error when that is exceeded. When reading the stream has run for more than 8 milliseconds, it pauses briefly so other work can carry on.

Why

This guards against very large streams that could make Claude Code stop responding while it processes them.
