What

The save_task_files tool could only save a task's files to a task-files folder on this computer. It now has a second placement: it can save them into the chat's container, the remote environment where the session's shell commands and file tools run.

This second mode has its own tool description and its own message for each way saving can fail. It is offered only when all of these hold:

  • the session is a remote session
  • the host is an eligible one
  • a server-controlled switch for this mode is on
  • the switch for saving task files as a whole is on

Both switches fall back to off when the server sends nothing, so the mode is off unless it is turned on remotely.

Why

Files produced by a managed-agent task can reach a remote session directly, where Claude can work on them with its usual tools, instead of only being saved to a local computer.

tengu_abundant_squid Off in both readings

The flag server returned off for the account this site reads and for the anonymous baseline. A reading of off cannot rule out a rollout these two readings sit outside of.

This account: off · anonymous baseline: off · compiled default in v2.1.311: not a boolean we can read

These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.
