Unclear What the server switch falls back to when the server sends nothing is not stated.
MCP servers are outside programs that add tools to Claude Code. A new helper lets Claude Code dial again to an MCP server that failed to connect, so a tool search can use that server's tools. It runs only when a server-controlled switch allows it.
A server qualifies only when all of these are true:
- it connects over the web (HTTP or SSE)
- its address is a public hostname
- its URL contains no credentials and no query string
- it has no OAuth (sign-in) configuration
- it has failed fewer than a set number of retries
A second new function removes stored MCP sign-in tokens for one server at a time.
This is automatic reconnection for MCP servers during tool search. It stays inactive unless the server switch is turned on.
