What
Claude Code has a new converter that turns lines from ignore files (files like .gitignore that list paths to leave out) into patterns for ripgrep, the search program it uses to find files. It escapes special characters, and for rules that start with !, which bring a path back in after it was excluded, it adds extra patterns so the contents of that folder are included too.
Why
This may mean that file searches respect ignore rules beginning with ! that were previously not honoured.
