What

Claude Code can upload a file to a web page through its browser pane, using a tool called file_upload. That tool now accepts only one file per call. If it is given several, nothing is uploaded and Claude is told to call it once for each file.

Before uploading, Claude Code checks whether the file may be read. Some files are always refused:

  • files that look like passwords, keys or other credentials
  • Claude Code's own files
  • in a session started with --restricted, any file outside the working folders, which are the folders Claude Code has been given to work in
Why

The upload tool can no longer be used to send a file to a web page that Claude would not be allowed to read in the first place.
