What
Claude Code has a memory feature that picks out things worth remembering from your conversation. Its first look at the conversation now counts only exchanges newer than the last point it read up to. If there is nothing new, that pass is skipped.
The short summaries Claude Code writes of tool use, meaning the actions Claude takes such as reading files or running commands, now receive the conversation as well, with a block of context added at the start.
Claude Code also records how many of your turns the memory pass looked at, and where its instructions came from.
Why
This changes when memory saving runs and what it reads, so it no longer goes over the same exchanges again.
