What
In Claude Desktop, file_upload calls to SDK servers now go through a check first. It refuses bad file paths before anything is sent, and for internal errors it reports that nothing was uploaded because file_upload hit an internal error in Claude Code. It does not run in remote or Cowork sessions, and runs only under a further condition.
For Claude in Chrome, the permission check on file_upload now also takes extra details attached to the tool, and can give a different answer when the upload is not approved automatically.
Why
This changes how uploads are approved and refused in the Desktop app.
