Unclear It is not clear which requests skip the proxy, which matters if your network requires all traffic to go through one.
What
A proxy is a server that network traffic is routed through, and it is often set with environment variables such as HTTP_PROXY. Claude Code now has an option for its own network requests that turns off the proxy from those variables for that request.
Why
Some of Claude Code's own requests can go out directly instead of through the proxy set in your environment.
