Unclear What the step before compaction does, and so what the switch changes for a user, is not established.
What
Compaction is when Claude Code shortens a long conversation so it fits in the model's working memory. Two related changes touch it:
A new keepNoRound option is passed through the compaction code to the compaction request. What it does was not read.
A new check reads the server-side flag tengu_sleepy_ripple, with a built-in default of true, just before one compaction call. That call runs only when this check passes and a token-limit check has not reported the level "blocked". Nothing has been read about the flag's actual value.
Why
This may change which messages are kept when a conversation is compacted, and when that compaction step runs. If long sessions shorten themselves differently after this release, this is the part that changed.
