What
Tools are the actions Claude can take, such as reading files or running commands. Some requests now include a toolNames field, built from the list of tools available.
Side queries now send toolNames alongside querySource and agentContext. Side queries are requests Claude Code makes apart from the main conversation.
Requests made by countTokens and the sample-count requests now pass a toolNames option.
Why
The members do not say what the field is used for. In practice these requests now carry extra information about which tools are available. This may affect request metadata, headers, or how the client is set up for them.
