What
Before a cloud session starts, Claude Code tidies up the copy of your git repository. Reftable is a newer way for git to store branch information. The cleanup now handles two things such repositories leave behind:
a placeholder file at .git/refs/heads, where a folder is expected, is removed
a current-branch pointer of ref: refs/heads/.invalid is changed to ref: refs/heads/main
Before, the branch pointer was only removed when it was not a valid reference or commit.
Why
It fixes cloud sessions started from repositories that use the reftable format.
