What

WebFetch is the tool Claude Code uses to read a web page. If fetching a URL failed earlier in the session, a second fetch of the same address within a short time is no longer attempted. WebFetch instead returns a "Not fetched" result saying how many seconds ago it failed, and tells the model to carry on and say the page could not be read.

The model may try again only if you asked for another attempt.

Why

The model no longer keeps hitting a page that is not responding. If you want another try, ask for it.
