Unclear It is not clear which situations stop the AWS refresh command from running.
What
The awsAuthRefresh setting holds a command Claude Code runs to refresh your AWS credentials. Before, Claude Code always ran it when a refresh was needed.
There is now a condition under which Claude Code does not run the command. It reports the refresh as failed straight away and logs why.
Why
If you rely on awsAuthRefresh, a refresh may now fail without your command running. Check the log message when that happens.
The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.
Confirmed sinceAnthropic's documentation has since written up awsAuthRefresh, on Claude Code changelog.- Fixed switching to a model whose name contains `application-inference-profile` running your `awsAuthRefresh` command and delaying model-switch hooks when the provider is not Bedrockchangelogsee the edit
