What
A transcript is the file where Claude Code saves a conversation so that it can be reopened later. When Claude Code loads a large one, it now stops scanning the file early if an extra condition is met. When it trims the file while loading, it now records how many bytes it read and how many it kept.
Why
This affects resuming large sessions, where a session is one saved conversation that you pick up again.
