What
A hook is your own command that Claude Code runs at a set moment. A PreToolUse hook runs before a tool call (an action such as running a command or editing a file). When a PreToolUse hook stops Claude from continuing, Claude Code now attaches the same stop note that a PostToolUse hook already produces.
Separately, API errors with status code 422 are now rewritten as status code 400.
Why
Both can change what you see when a hook halts a turn or when the API rejects a request.
