Unclear Whether chromeGrantAllowlistWithoutClassifier is a setting you can change yourself or one set remotely is not clear.

What

In auto mode, Claude Code normally uses a classifier, an automatic check that decides whether an action is safe to allow. For browser actions through the Chrome extension, a permission check can be settled without that classifier when all of these hold:

  • the classifier cannot run
  • the site's domain is allowed
  • a grant rule for the action exists
  • chromeGrantAllowlistWithoutClassifier is not set to false

That last value counts as on unless it is explicitly false.

Why

Browser actions on allowed sites with a matching grant can go ahead by default even when the classifier is unavailable. Setting the value to false stops that.
