What

$.audio.speak is the call plugins use to have text spoken aloud. Before, text over a length limit made the call fail with an error. That error is gone. Now Claude Code warns that the text is spoken only up to its first so many characters. The call still requires the text to be a string that is not empty, and still checks the voice type.

Why

A plugin that passes long text now gets the start of it spoken instead of an outright failure.
