What
Claude Code has a file reader that keeps recently read files in memory. It now checks first whether a path is an ordinary file. If the path is something else, such as a named pipe or a device, the reader fails with EINVAL: not a regular file and drops anything it had kept for that path. Before, it tried to read the path anyway.
Why
Reading a pipe or a device as if it were a file can hang or return data that makes no sense. Such a path now fails straight away with a clear error.
