When CLAUDE_CODE_RESUME_TOLERATES_CONTEXT_APPENDS is in effect, resuming a session runs a filter over earlier messages. That filter now keeps a message whose tool results are all stand-in placeholders instead of dropping it. A tool result is the output a tool sent back after Claude used it. The two placeholders are:
"[Tool call interrupted...", used when the session ended before the result was recorded.
"[Tool call result not in this copy..."
Why
A resumed conversation still shows that those tool calls happened and that their results are missing or unknown. It no longer silently loses them.
