Unclear What resume does with such a session instead is not shown, and the variable is not shown being documented or set anywhere.
What
Resuming a session means picking up an earlier conversation where it left off. When you resume, Claude Code checks whether the last turn was interrupted. A new environment variable, CLAUDE_CODE_RESUME_TOLERATES_CONTEXT_SEEDS, changes that check when set:
- A session whose last message is one marked to be kept in the saved conversation only is no longer treated as an interrupted turn.
- A user message that is a task notification, and is not one of Claude Code's internal messages, also counts as that kind of message.
Without the variable set, resume behaves as before.
Why
It gives an opt-in way to resume a session that ends in one of these messages without Claude Code treating the last turn as cut off.
