Unclear Nothing is known yet about what writes these files or checks the tokens.

What

Claude Code now writes a small file for each running process in ~/.claude/state/unattended-serving-runs. The file holds the process ID, when the process started, and a hashed random value. A token made of the process ID and that random value can later be checked against the file. Claude Code removes its file when it exits and clears out files left behind by processes that are gone.

Why

This appears to be a way to prove that an unattended run, one with nobody at the keyboard, was started by Claude Code.
