What

A self-hosted runner is a machine you run yourself to carry out remote Claude Code sessions.

  • With --configure-git, the runner now runs git --version at startup. It exits with an error if git is older than the required version or does not answer within the time limit. A git that hangs is forcibly stopped. The git version error mentions SSH commit signing. Before, a failure was only reported afterwards, with "Check git is on PATH and ~/.gitconfig is writable".
  • The check of --use-anthropic-git-proxy now happens earlier in startup.
  • Registration now sends usesAgentProxyStandalone instead of agentProxyUrl.
  • The request to /v1/code/sessions/{id}/remote now sends uses_agent_proxy_standalone=true when usesAgentProxyStandalone is set. It used to send an agent_proxy_url value.
  • Separately, a review-prompt hint now reads "clear text to dismiss" under a certain condition.

Why

A runner image with an old git, or a git that does not respond, now stops at startup with a clear message instead of failing later. The way the runner tells the server about its agent proxy has changed.
