What

The SDK lets other programs, such as a desktop app, run Claude Code and talk to it. When such a program asks how much of the context is in use, the reply can now include an optional coldResumeQuota field. It has two values:

  • percentPerMillionTokens: how much of your 5-hour usage limit each million tokens costs
  • minPercent: the smallest share it will cost

This is for resuming a session whose cache has expired. The cache is saved work that makes a resumed session cheaper, so a cold resume costs more.

Why

A host app can warn you before you resume an old session that it will use up part of your 5-hour limit. The field only appears when those costs are known.
