Programs that run Claude Code through the SDK send it control requests, which are instructions about how a session should behave. Claude Code now accepts one called set_has_subscribers. Its has_subscribers value must be true, false or null, and any other value is rejected with an error.
Why
This gives a host program a new way to tell Claude Code whether anything is listening to its output.
