A connector is an outside service, such as one linked from claude.ai, that Claude can use through tools. Claude Code now has code for handling connector tool results that offer files to download. It:
- hides the download token, showing "[download token hidden]" in its place
- accepts downloads only from the expected relay address
- refuses a download that is too large, has expired, or points to another address
Two server-side switches must both be on for this to work, and each is off unless it is switched on remotely.
Once turned on, Claude could fetch files that connectors make available, without the token that unlocks them ending up in the conversation.
