Unclear It is not clear when Claude Code actually uses this waiting behaviour, so its effect on a running session is unknown.
In auto mode, a permission mode where Claude Code checks actions automatically instead of asking you, a request can be waiting for an answer. Claude Code now has logic that makes such pending requests wait for an answer tied to a model switch. It is controlled by a server-side switch whose built-in default is on.
This may stop auto mode permission requests from being handled wrongly when you change models while one is waiting.
