Unclear Whether this REPL mode can be reached at all in released builds.
Claude Code contains new code for a REPL mode, where Claude runs a script that makes several tool calls. A tool call is one action Claude takes, such as reading a file or running a command. In this mode:
- Claude in Chrome calls are refused, with the message "Claude in Chrome call refused in REPL mode".
- Auto mode, which judges whether an action is safe to run without asking, skips the calls made inside a script it has already judged.
- Workflow agents report progress on each tool call made from such a script.
A tool for workers is included only when a code-mode experiment is enabled. Before, that tool was always left out.
This is an in-progress feature tied into how Claude Code decides what to allow.
