What
When Claude Code updates itself, it downloads a signature that proves the update list is genuine. Before, this was a single request with a timeout. It now retries, up to a set number of attempts and within a deadline, when it gets:
A rate-limit response (429).
A server error (any 5xx response).
A network error.
The attempt number is now recorded in Claude Code's usage reports.
Why
A brief network problem is less likely to make an update fail.
