Unclear It is not clear in which situations Claude Code sends this empty result.
What
In headless use, Claude Code runs without its interactive screen and is driven by another program, for example through the SDK. It can now send an extra result message while no turn (one round of Claude working on a request) is running and nothing is waiting to start. That message reports success, has an empty result, gives the number of turns as 0 and includes the session's cost totals.
Why
If your program reads these messages, it may receive this extra empty result and should not treat it as a real answer.
