Unclear It is not clear what decides the idle interval or whether the slower one is in use for a given reader.

What

Claude Code watches skill files for changes. Skills are packaged instructions Claude can use. On disk this watching works by polling, which means checking the files again at a set interval. The idle polling interval used to be fixed. It is now an option, and a feature check picks its value.

Why

Polling less often when nothing is happening lowers the file-watching work a quiet session does.
