Unclear It is not settled exactly how traffic is routed when only ALL_PROXY is set.
What
A proxy is a server your network traffic passes through on its way out, and it is often set through environment variables. Claude Code's proxy handling changed in three ways:
- One of its network libraries now uses no proxy by default unless
all_proxyorALL_PROXYis set and no other proxy variable is - Claude Code compares your proxy environment variables over time and sets up its connections again when they change
- Another network library's shared proxy setup is now installed the first time it is needed rather than in advance
Why
If you set only ALL_PROXY and no other proxy variable, how your traffic is routed may change.
