What

A hostname is the name part of a web address, such as the part before the path in a URL. Claude Code now has a check that treats hostnames ending in certain suffixes as private or internal rather than public. The suffixes include:

  • .consul
  • .corp
  • .ts.net
  • .onion
  • .i2p
  • .xip.io

Other suffixes for internal networks are on the list as well.

Why

This can change which addresses Claude Code counts as private, for example when it decides whether a request is safe to make or should go through a proxy.
