Claude Code used to show the same fixed hint when a request failed: 'Check your network connection, or sign in again with /login.' That hint is now built to fit the kind of failure.
One place uses it differently: errors while loading managed settings. Managed settings are settings an organization sets for its users. There, the hint is now shown only when the failure is not an HTTP 401 or 403, the errors a server returns when it refuses your sign-in or your access.
The advice you see after a failure is now chosen for that failure. If you are refused access to managed settings, you no longer get a general network hint.
The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.
* Make the change again in a later session. For example, run `/login` again or answer the trust prompt again.errors see the edit
Anthropic's documentation has since written up /login, on Error reference.
